Halloween and Fall Resources- Freebies!!

Happy Halloween Week!

I know it's a little last minute, but here are some Halloween-themed resources I have to share with you! Just click on the link below each picture. I hope you can find something you can use!!

Math:
Roll It: Use a dice and a deck of cards.  Roll the die and then follow the directions. This is a random assortment of place value skills. This was from two years ago before the TEKS were changed, so it doesn't include any of the new TEKS. It's supposed to rain ALL weekend, so this *might* be something I update or add to this weekend. ;)

(You'll need digit cards and dice)

Multiplication Word Problems: Just a few word problems with a Halloween theme. We haven't covered multiplication yet this year, but I used these two years ago when I taught math and the kids enjoyed them.

Spooky Multiplication Word Problems

Addition and Subtraction Brew- addition and subtraction with regrouping (computation only).
This activity does NOT include any word problems, it is strictly computation.

Language Arts:

Pumpkin Prefixes Match-Up: Super simple and quick match-up game to review the prefixes re-, un-, pre-, dis-, and non-.

Pumpkin Prefixes

Do They Agree? Subject/Verb Agreement: 12 short sentences to quickly review subject verb agreement.

Again, I hope you were able to find something you could use!

Enjoy celebrating this week with your kiddos!

Short Texts for Prefixes (mid- and re-)

I'm just popping in to share some things with you!

I love for my students to be able to read vocabulary words in context and infer the meanings, especially when it comes to prefixes and suffixes. In the past I've had some decodable readers that came with our textbook series, so this year I had to improvise and write my own! I was hesitant to share because these short stories aren't the greatest, but they serve their purpose.

So far I have only written two- one for the prefix mid- and one for the prefix re-. Feel free to grab them for yourself if you think they would be useful for your students! Just click on the link below each passage.

If you know of any resources available that would be similar to this that would save me from having to make my own, please let me know! I am no author!! :)

Happy Thursday!

Math Mentor Text, and French Fry Prefixes!

Happy Mother's Day!!! I hope all of you are either giving or getting lots of love today!

I'm excited to be linking up with Amanda & Stacia @ Collaboration Cuties again this week for their Must Read Mentor Text linky! This week is math!

The book I chose to share is called The Doorbell Rang by Pat Hutchins.

This book is PERFECT for introducing division. Kids are at their grandma's house ready share her delicious, fresh-baked cookies between themselves, but the doorbell keeps ringing and more kids keep coming, and they have to continually work to share the cookies between them equally.

I use these cookies (that I just print, laminate, and add a magnet on the back) on my white board as we read the book together. As a new kid comes, we move the cookies around to make the correct number of groups. Get your copy of the cookies HERE.

Students see how one set of objects (cookies) can be split evenly between different numbers of people. Of course, cookies are engaging on their own, but it's always great to follow up the lesson with REAL cookies that students have to divide between them.

I'm also excited to announce that I have FINALLY made a new product! I haven't made anything in a few months!

I was shopping at Target yesterday and saw these adorable French fry containers.

I knew I had to have them, and last night I figured out what to do with them. Practice prefixes!!

It's a fun and delicious way to practice adding prefixes to words! If you are interested, you can check it out in my STORE. However, I will be giving this away to the first three people who are interested in having this and leave a comment! Be sure to leave your e-mail address in your comment!

Have a great Sunday! Head on over and link up with your favorite math text!
I'm off to spend time with my amazing mommy!
